TV-host Alexandra Golovanoff

The stylish French television journalist tells us all about her favorite designers, artists and Parisian hot spots.

Alexandra-e01
”With my dog Kochka, wearing a coat and pants from Acne Studios, bag from Fendi and shoes from Louis Vuitton.”

STYLE ”I like to have fun with clothes – mix ‘n’ match, test things and have a little courage. When I work with my shows, I change my style a lot and try new things. But to be honest, I wear a t-shirt and flats for the everyday. I always look for good quality, and I like to mix luxury with cheaper alternatives.”

FAVOURITE DESIGNER ”I love design houses like Sonia Rykiel, Louis Vuitton, Hermés, Acne Studios and Chanel, but I also like H&M and Uniqlo thanks to their proper design and collaborations. They’re not copycats.”

EVERYDAY STYLE ”High waisted jeans, round neck t-shirts from James Perse, a suit jacket and cashmere coat or pea coat depending on the weather or season. With that I wear derbies from Church’s or loafers. I also love knits. I’m constantly looking for the perfect cashmere sweater.”

PARTY STYLE ”A mini dress and high heels, or a navy tuxedo. I always have the benefit of borrowing incredible creations from the catwalk since I work with fashion.”

BAGS ”My favourites are from Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Prada – they’re not just it-bags, they are beautiful design objects made of fantastic quality.”

SHOES ”I have a lot of shoes, it’s hard to name one favourite pair. If I have to pick, it’s my Church’s and loafers from Hermés and GH Bass. When it comes to high heels I like Pierre Hardy and Louis Vuitton.”

JEANS ”Grey and high waisted from H&M – I love them so much. I have three pairs. I also just bought a blue pair from Frame with a high waste and straight leg, I love them too!”

SIGNATURE JEWELRY ”I prefer rose gold or diamonds. My rings are from Aurélie Bidermann and Lisa Vanrycke. I wear earrings every day from Stone Paris or Pomellato. My piercing is from Maria Tash.”

STARTLING WARDROBE ITEM ”My furs. I used to love fur, it’s a part of my Russian heritage, but I don’t wear them anymore.”

INSPIRATION ”When I meet someone with strong personal style, minimalistic or maxed out. It doesn’t matter, as long as it is genuine.”

STYLE ADVICE ”It’s not all about fashion, it’s all about you!”

CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF ”Jeans and cashmere.”

MOST WORN ITEM ”My wardrobe consists of twenty-year-old clothes, I still wear them all.”

BEST BUY ”My Hermés Kelly Bag – a second hand bargain.”

LAST BUY ”One pair of jeans from Frame and one from Alexander Wang, which I bought on my last trip to New York.”

NEXT BUY ”A pair of Church’s with studs.”

WOULD NEVER WEAR ”When it comes to fashion I never say never.”

BEAUTY ”I like natural products, like Living Luminizer from RMS, shampoo from Aveda and oils from Nuxe. Joëlle Ciocco, Tata Harper and Leonor Greyl are among my favourite brands as well.”

SIGNATURE SCENT ”Fève Délicieuse from Christian Dior and Renard Constrictor from Serge Lutens.”

WELLNESS ”I do ballet and cardio. I eat healthy and no red meat.”

READ ”Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel, The Master and Margarita.”

ART ”French-Russian artist Serge Poliakoff.”

NIGHTLIFE ”In Paris we do a lot of dinners at people’s homes, or we all meet up at a restaurant in Saint Germain. If I go out clubbing I go to Castel.”

FAVOURITE CITY ”Paris, of course. It’s my city! But I like Los Angeles as well for their climate and the sea.”

FAVOURITE SHOP ”Le Bon Marché – a relatively small department store that has a great selection of fashion and food.”

INTERIOR ”My parents are antique dealers so I grew up among furniture and old paintings. Today I mix old furniture with modern art and design. I save things, but I re-decorate every third year, it spikes up the whole family.”

INTERIOR WISH ”I’m currently decorating our new summer house and I’ve bought a fountain made out of stone for the garden. My next purchase will be a tree or a sofa for the living room. My dream is to be able to buy a piece by Poliakoff.”
