A Copenhagen’s Style Icon Reveals Her Go-to Places

Copenhagen Fashion Week has kicked off and all eyes are looking at our neighbor to the south. One of the city’s most stylish women, Charlotte Lynggaard, shares her inside tips on the hottest spots in her hometown.

Charlotte Lynggaard is the designer and creative director at Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Despite the brand’s international reach, Charlotte chose to be based in her hometown, a city she loves. “Copenhagen is the bicycle capital of the world, big enough to be an international mecca of food and design, yet small enough to embody the laidback coziness that’s typical of the Danish lifestyle,” says Charlotte. The Copenhagen insider shares her favourite addresses with STYLEBY.

“At Holly Golightly you can find everything you dream of. They have a great selection of international high end brands and are both an accessories shop and clothing store. The accessories shop is especially beautiful.”

“Entering Lot #29 is like stumbling into a cave of collected passions-a perfectly curated mix of designer womenswear, menswear and accessories. It’s definitely one of my absolute favourite fashion shops in Copenhagen and worth a visit!”

“Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen’s flagship store of course. Come in and be inspired, find your favourite piece of jewelry, sit on the sofas and just enjoy yourself.”

Storm is a cool and funky concept store, Copenhagen’s version of Colette. It has a great selection of perfumes, books and selected Danish and international high-end brands.”

Oliver Gustav is a fantastic design shop housing very select interior design and books.”

The Apartment is a one of a kind interior design shop and art-consultant studio in Christianshavn.”

The Botanical garden is a beautiful, relaxing and inspiring place that’s definitely worth a visit.”

King’s Garden is another beautiful garden in the center of the city. It’s surrounded by beautiful old Danish buildings and is a nice place for a post shopping picnic. The Rosenborg Castle is worth visiting too! “

“Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum has the largest collection of antiques in Northern Europe and it’s beautiful. Wintergarden is located at the center of the museum.”

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a beautiful building with breathtaking surroundings, fantastic exhibitions and a really good shop and café.”

“Visiting Atelier September is like stepping into a little Parisian café. Decorated with long French tables and mirrors it’s both inspiring and cozy. You always meet someone you know here! Their rye and avocado sandwich is great for lunch and they also have a good selection of healthy juices and lemonade. It’s as simple as it is delicious!”

Nyhavn is the vibrant and colourful harbor where you can find the best ice cream in town.”

Restaurant Pluto feels like a New York bistro. Though the food is mainly French the energy, the pace and the people really give Pluto that big city atmosphere. At Pluto you will find large groups of friends dining before a night on the town as well as couples on dates. The ambience is laid back and the food is very good. The service is great and the staff is flexible. They’ll do their utmost to find you a seat at the bar if you come in without a reservation. I strongly recommend their cod and their wine selection is excellent. The first time I was there was for a birthday dinner, we were a large group of friends and had the best time. The birthday dinner developed into a party in itself due to the great energy and environment.”

“At Café Victor the energy is high. This place is always packed with a mix of locals, businessmen in suits and people from creative fields like painters, editors, actors and writers. It is the perfect place for a business lunch or an after work drink. Both the food and interior are inspired by French and Italian brassieres, with a Copenhagen twist of course! They have the best french fries in town! I’ve been coming here for many years and will definitely keep coming.”

The Cava Bar at Torvehallerne food market is vibrant with high quality food. You can find French specialties, freshly caught fish, rare delicacies, organic vegetables and exotic spices. Enjoy a glass of ice cold Spanish cava in the sun at Cava Bar.”
